What’s the basic storyline?

After killing Garuda in Chapter 1, Rocky is now the boss of Kolar Gold Fields (KGF). Rocky taking the top position obviously p*sses off Guru Pandian, Andrews and Daya, Rajendra Desai and Kamal, who wanted to take full control of KGF.

On the other hand, Rocky is in a mood of slowing down and wants to reap gold from unexcavated mines in KGF. In a meantime, Adheera, who everyone believed to be dead, returns and now wants to conquer KGF.

But wait it’s not just Adheera, but Rocky has also to face Ramika Sen, Prime Minister of India, who wants to destroy his illegal empire.

So what happens next? Will Rocky be able to keep his hold on KGF or either one of Adheera, Ramika Sen will destroy him? KGF Chapter 2 answers it all.

Performances

Yash as Rocky is already a cult among fans and with Chapter 2, the actor takes his larger than persona to next level. He’s stylish, charming, brutal and daredevil! His screen presence is powerful and suits perfectly a role of an angry young man.

Srinidhi Shetty doesn’t get a meatier role but does well in her scenes. Sanjay Dutt as Adheera looks menacing but after a point, his villainous demeanour fails to create any impact. In action scenes too, he looks average.

Raveena Tandon as Ramika Sen is brilliant. She portrays a fierce lady aptly and leaves her impact. Prakash Raj and all other actors have done well in their respective roles.

Screenplay, direction & other departments

Just like the first part or a bit more, KGF Chapter 2 is a bit complex to understand. The film runs through flashbacks and it’s so pacy that sometimes it gets a bit difficult to connect the dots at a given moment. And no, it’s not a complaint. Just make sure you watch KGF 1 a night before watching KGF 2, and you’ll be able to get hold of a pace.

Prashanth Neel has done an outstanding job of handling this mass entertainer. The film is reportedly made on a budget of 130-150 crores and but Neel’s execution is such that the film looks to be riding on a budget of 300-400 crores. He elevates the character of Rocky he developed in the prequel and once again manages to keep you hooked in a fictional larger than life world. Just like in the first part, the emotional angle between mother and son is intact and works well. His storytelling reminds of Christopher Nolan, who loves playing with viewers’ minds by complexing the narration.

The cinematography by Bhuvan Gowda is amazing as each scene depicts grandeur. The film also scores high in action choreography and visual effects department with one of the highlights being a car chasing scene with multiple blackouts.

Music by Ravi Basrur is one of the strongest pillars of KGF Chapter 2. Songs Toofan and Sulthan stand out the most with their powerful vibes. The background score too is amazing and gives you chills throughout the film. At points, it gets too loud as dialogues get overshadowed.

On a conclusive note…

KGF Chapter 2 is a must-watch extravaganza that is dominated by Yash’s larger than life character. It lives up to the hype and delivers a visual treat that’s high on mass elements.
