Ayalaan, starring Sivakarthikeyan and Rakul Preet Singh in the lead role, released during Pongal this year. The film did reasonably well, doing a business of 49.70 crores net at the Indian box office, which equals 58.64 crores gross. In the overseas market, it earned 18 crores gross, thus taking the total to 76.64 crores gross at the worldwide box office. Considering the festive season, the film should have crossed 100 crores gross globally, but it didn’t happen.
Although the movie was to have a Telugu release, too, the makers have stalled it for some unspecified reason. However, Telugu fans need not worry as Ayalaan is all set to release on Sun Nxt On 19th April. Just a few more weeks to see your favorite super alien on your home screen.
The Tamil version was earlier released on Sun Nxt, where it was well-received yet again after a decent at the box office. The makers expect it to get the same reception when the Telugu OTT streaming is kicked off.
Somewhat inspired by Bollywood super-hit Koi Mil Gaya starring Hrithik Roshan and Preity Zinta, Ayalaan’s plot revolves around a lost alien who seeks help from four friends to get back to his home planet, while a group of hostile scientists tries to capture it.
