One of the biggest Hollywood blockbusters of the year, Dune 2, is soon going to be available to stream in the comfort of your home. The sequel to the 2021 film, Dune, starring Timothée Chalamet and Zendaya, continues to enjoy a successful run at the box office. The Denis Villeneuve directorial has emerged as the top-grossing film of 2024 both domestically and globally, crossing the $500 million threshold. At present, its worldwide earnings have exceeded $665 million.
Now, as per the report in Variety, it will become available to rent and purchase digitally starting April 16 and will be released on 4K UHD, Blu-ray, and DVD on May 14.
Based on the latter portion of Frank Herbert’s popular 1965 book, the narrative follows the epic journey of Chalamet’s character, Paul Atreides, as he navigates betrayal by influential rulers and seeks refuge in the desert. Expanding the ensemble cast, Austin Butler, Florence Pugh, and Christopher Walken join the already vast array of actors including Zendaya, Rebecca Ferguson, Josh Brolin, and Stellan Skarsgård. Dune 2 was well-received by fans and critics alike, with many hailing it as a masterpiece, an amazing theatre experience, and a meticulously detailed journey that gives the viewer a sensory overload like no other.
The digital release is unique because it includes numerous special features, including four “Filmbooks” focusing on various aspects of the film, such as the scarcity of water in their world and The Reverend Mother, along with several featurettes like “An Ensemble for the Ages,” “Chakobsa Training,” “Creating the Fremen World,” “Finding the Worlds of Dune,” “Buzz Around the New Thopter,” “Worm-Riding,” and “Becoming Feyd.” The physical editions offer many of these same features.
