A Writer’s Odyssey
We all know, coronavirus outbreak started in China, but the same nation is now leading in the movie business. A Writer’s Odyssey, a Chinese fantasy film, saw positive reviews upon its release in January. It earned $149.751 million at the box office
Cliff Walkers aka Impasse
It’s a Chinese spy movie which released in April 2021. It’s received average to decent reviews. At the box office, it did a business of $181.32 million.
The Conjuring: The Devil Made Me Do It
The Conjuring: The Devil Made Me Do It is the 8th film in the Conjuring universe. It also serves as a sequel to The Conjuring 2. It received mixed reviews from critics but still turned out to be a huge hit thanks to its tight budget. Till now, it has made $184.31 million, including $64.31 million from the US, Canada and $120 million from other regions.
Black Widow
Black Widow is temporarily at this position as it’s just in its second week and taking big leaps on daily basis. As of now, it has made $214.48 million including $113.78 million from the US and $100.70 million from other regions.
Cruella
This Emma Stone starrer released in May across the globe. It received good reviews upon its release. It has earned $218.76 million till now, including $82.66 from the US, Canada and $136.10 from other markets.
A Quiet Place Part II
This is another tightly budgeted film on the list after The Conjuring: The Devil Made Me Do It. It’s still going strong in theatres and has done a business of $281.02 million till now including $152.72 million from the US and $128.30 million from other territories.
Godzilla vs Kong
It’s the first major success of 2021 for Hollywood. Still running in few places, the film has done a business of $459.46 million till now. It has made $100.56 million from the US and Canada.
F9
F9 is one of the biggest successes of the pandemic era. It’s still running successfully globally. As of now, the film has done a business of $552.74 million, out of which $151.90 million has come from the US and Canada.
Detective Chinatown 3
This Chinese comedy film made a lot of noise due to its record-breaking weekend numbers. Released in February, the film did a business of $686.25 million.
Hi, Mom
Hi, Mom too released in February and belongs to the comedy genre. The Chinese film, thanks to positive word-of-mouth, did a business of $822.05 million. It’s the highest-grossing movie of 2021.
