Rohit Shetty’s Cirkus was supposed to end 2022 on a good note for Bollywood, but the reality has shattered all the dreams! Yes, the film is a bonafide box office disaster now considering its huge budget. In fact, it is being termed one of the biggest letdowns in recent times for the Hindi film industry. Let’s find out its collection till now and a little more about economics.
Negative reception upon its releaseÂ
The trailer itself was very dull and there was no hype at all before the release. However, box office enthusiasts had trust in Rohit Shetty, who has never gone wrong in satisfying the need of entertainment of the masses. All hopes came down crashing when the initial reactions of aam junta was out. People even claimed it to be the worst ever film made by Shetty.
Considering the negative word-of-mouth, Cirkus failed to show growth over the weekend and the Christmas holidays went in vain. As a result, very poor numbers came during the opening week.
Collection till now
After the first three days, Cirkus went downhill on day 4 i.e. Monday and dropped consistently during weekdays. All of this has resulted in collecting just 30 crores in the opening week. Practically, these should have been the number in the first two days considering the brand of Rohit Shetty.
The poor run has resulted in huge slash in the shows for the second week. Screening for Avatar 2 and Drishyam 2 has been increased considerably by limiting shows for the Rohit Shetty entertainer.
Budget & box office verdict
Cirkus is reportedly made on a huge budget of 140 crores, making it the most expensive film of Rohit Shetty. If we compare this number with the Indian collection of 30 crores, the film has just earned 21% of its making cost, which is highly disappointing.
Cirkus is a clear cut box office disaster!
