2024 has been a mixed bag for Marathi movies in terms of box office business. Yes, there were some quality films but when it came to big-money spinners, none of the films managed to touch even the 30 crore mark. It was good to see that a female-oriented film, Nach Ga Ghuma, managed to dominate the list of the top 10 highest-grossing Marathi movies of 2024 by amassing an impressive 23.55 crore net at the Indian box office against a modest budget of just 5 crores.
Directed by Paresh Mokashi, Nach Ga Ghuma stars Mukta Barve and Namrata Sambherao in key roles. The film was released in May 2024. Riding high on positive word-of-mouth, the film did a business of 23.55 crores in India. The second spot is grabbed by Sachin Pilgaonkar’s Navra Maza Navsacha 2. The goodwill of the predecessor backed it and the reunion of veteran actors was a big plus. Despite mixed reviews, it performed really well and turned out to be a big success with a collection of 20.70 crores at the Indian box office.
The third spot on the list of the top 10 highest-grossing Marathi movies of 2024 is grabbed by Pravin Tarde’s Dharmaveer 2. The film couldn’t meet the expectations but became a success at the Indian box office by earning 15.13 crores.
Mahesh Manjrekar’s Juna Furniture is in the fourth spot with a collection of 12.45 crores. The rest of the films are below the 10 crore mark.
