Keep reading below for the final global collection report!
Reception among critics and audiences
Helmed by Mudassar Aziz, the Bollywood comedy-drama was released amid a clash with Stree 2 and Vedaa. As we all know, every other film present in theatres was destroyed by Stree 2 and this Akshay Kumar starrer, too, met a similar fate. Among critics, the film opened to mixed reviews, and even reception among the ticket-buying audience was mixed. As a result, it failed to make it big.
Khel Khel Mein at the worldwide box office
In India, Khel Khel Mein registered a fair start due to the Independence Day holiday and didn’t show any momentum thereafter. Yes, as compared to John Abraham’s Vedaa, this one performed much better, especially among the urban centers. In fact, it surprisingly witnessed a rock-steady trend for weeks but that didn’t make much of a difference as the overall collection remained on the lower level.
With the arrival of Devara, it was curtains down for Khel Khel Mein and it wrapped up its run at 40.50 crores net at the Indian box office, which equals 47.79 crores gross. In overseas, it was a washout with a collection of just 10 crores gross. Combining the Indian and overseas collections, the final worldwide box office collection of the film stands at just 57.79 crores gross.
Big disaster for Akshay Kumar!
Khel Khel Mein wasn’t a small film and reportedly, it was made on a budget of 100 crores. And against this budget, it earned just 40.50 crores domestically. That means it suffered a deficit of 59.50 crores at the Indian box office, making it a big disaster.
Breakdown of Khel Khel Mein’s worldwide collection:
- India net – 40.50 crores
- India gross – 47.79 crores
- Overseas gross – 10 crores
- Worldwide gross – 57.79 crores
