EK Villain Returns is all set to release this Friday. Featuring the entirely new cast of John Abraham, Disha Patani, Arjun Kapoor and Tara Sutaria, the crime thriller has got itself a decent buzz among the youths. Let’s see how it faring in the advance booking trends so far.
This Mohit Suri directorial is a standalone sequel to Ek Villain, which had released in 2014. It was a massive hit and the opening itself was thunderous. One of the strong pillars behind the success was chartbuster music. Here, music hasn’t worked well that well and currently it’s a dull phase at the box office. Will EVR be part of Bollywood’s revival? Let’s find out.
Ek Villain Returns is made available for advance booking from today onwards, and by 9 pm itself, the film has hit the 1 crore gross mark. It’s not very huge but a good enough sign when compared to recent Bollywood releases. With one more day to go, one can expect the number to end up in the range of 2-3 crores.
If not much, Ek Villain Returns is sure to attract at least decent footfalls on single screens. A lot depends on how Vikrant Rona turns out to be in the Hindi belt. The Kichcha Sudeep starrer releases tomorrow and if the word-of-mouth turns out to be good, it will surely hamper EVR to an extent. So even the makers will be keeping an eye on how VR is faring tomorrow.
The good thing for the Mohit Suri directorial is that Ranbir Kapoor’s Shamshera has turned out to be a box office debacle, thus losing out a big chunk of screens to Ek Villain Returns.
