The film recently completed 10 days run at the box office and is already a huge success. Let’s check out how much collection it has made till now.
Trend of re-releases
This year, we saw several re-releases. On the occasion of Mahesh Babu, Pawan Kalyan and Prabhas we saw their old films hitting theatres. Apart from them, even Dhanush’s 3 was arranged with special shows. Then PVR celebrated Amitabh Bachchan’s legacy by arranging special shows for more than 3 days to celebrate his birthday. Now, none other than Thalaiva has joined the list.
Box office collection of Baba so far
For those who aren’t aware, Baba was originally released in 2002. To celebrate Rajinikanth’s birthday on 12th December, special shows have been arranged since 10th December. The film is already a huge box office success as it has earned 4 crores gross on the worldwide front. It’s one of biggest milestone successes in the history of Indian re-releases.
Baba was originally flop!
When released back in 2002, the film was a box office debacle. Back then, it had received mixed reviews from both critics and fans as well. Due to mixed reception and some controversies, it tanked miserably at ticket windows.
Baba went through changes before re-release
Yes, a couple of changes were made to this Rajinikanth starrer before making it ready for the re-release. Unlike recent re-releases, quite a bit efforts have been in this film including the trimming of length by around 30 minutes. Apart from reduction in duration, the climax too has been changed to suit the audience of current time. All these changes are getting appreciated and said to be the main reason behind the success apart from Rajinikanth’s craze.
Directed by Suresh Krissna, Baba is written and produced by Rajinikanth. It is re-released by Lyca Productions and PVR Pictures.
