One is the greatest Indian actor alive and another one is the pioneer of transformation in Bollywood. We often hear from the great people from the entertainment industry that, some people work for whatever they get without uttering a word and there’s another breed that totally works on their terms. And yes, Big B and Manoj belong to the other.
Not out of any arrogance but for the love of the Hindi language, Amitabh Bachchan and Manoj Bajpayee prefer reading their scripts in Hindi. They humbly request the makers to present the script to them in Devanagari Hindi. And believe us, Big B and Manoj are the only actors who put forth this unique demand.
Amitabh Bachchan has a family background in literature. He is the son of legendary Hindi poet, Harivansh Rai Bachchan. Those who follow Harivash Rai’s literature would be aware of his love and compassion for Hindi. The influence of the same could be seen clearly seen in Big B too, and that’s the reason he demands his script in Devanagari to show respect to Hindi.
Speaking of Manoj Bajpayee, the versatile actor is fond of Hindi literature. He is an ardent follower of Harivash Rai Bachchan and some of the great Hindi writers and poets. He feels comfort and joy in Hindi, which is why he asks for Hindi scripts.
Some years back, Manoj had made it clear why he demand movie scripts in Hindi. While speaking at Lit-O-Fest (a literature festival in Mumbai), Manoj had said, “I am very passionate about Hindi language. Satya made me a commercially successful actor. After that, I slowly started getting work in this industry. The day I realised I am in a position to make demands, I decided not to read any director’s script if it is not typed in Hindi. I am stubborn on this issue.”
