Last year, Rakesh Roshan’s Kaho Naa Pyaar Hai starring Hrithik Roshan and Ameesha Patel completed two decades. He had made a shocking revelation about why he replaced Kareena Kapoor at the last moment. We bet you wouldn’t be aware of what he said about Kareena.
In January 2020, Kaho Naa Pyaar Hai completed 20 years in the industry. On the special occasion, the filmmaker of the movie, Rakesh Roshan was indulged in a conversation with The Quint. He shared some fun incidents and facts about the movie. He said that in the film KNPH, he wanted to launch Kareena Kapoor with Hrithik Roshan. However, things didn’t go as planned.
Kareena Kapoor was chosen for playing the role of Sonia. However, it was eventually played by Ameesha Patel. On the first day of the shoot, Roshan decided to begin the shoot with a song sequence. Babita, the mother of Kareena, got adamant about a few decisions four days before the shoot. Babita said that the shoot should not begin with the song because Kareena is not ready for it. She asked him to start with dialogues as it would make her more comfortable.
Rakesh Roshan said that he wants to begin with a song. As per him, Kareena Kapoor could have been more comfortable shooting for a song. He told Kareena’s mother, “No, Babita, I think a song is better because she will be very familiar with the whole unit. It will be much easier. To say dialogue and to act is a little more difficult than to lip-sync to a song. Of course, we will train her.”
When Babita did not seem to agree, Roshan told her that this is not how things will work because she might try to influence decisions in the shoot ahead. Hence, it was better if they parted their ways. So, they did.
During the same time, Rakesh Roshan met Ameesha Patel at a wedding. He asked her if she was interested in acting and invited him home. He thought that Ameesha and Hrithik Roshan were a perfect match. Hence, he asked her to stay at his place for three days in which he got everything fixed.
