It all started in 2017 when Harvey Weinstein first came on public radar
The biggest shocker of Hollywood was Harvey Weinstein coming out as a s*xual demon. Reportedly, more than 80 women accused the film producer of s*xual harassment and s*xual assault. The victims started coming forward in 2017, which gave confidence and strength to other victims. These victims then decided to take a step forward and share their dreadful stories with the world.
In 2017, The New York Times published an article in which one of the victims of Weinstein’s s*xual assault came forward to share her story with the world. The article described details of decades of s*xual harassment. It was actress Rose McGowan and Ashley Judd who shared their story worldwide. Rose and Ashley shared how Weinstein forced women to watch him naked and massage him even though they did not give consent to do so. Further, he asked them for s*xual favors in return for which he helps them advance in their career.
In October 2017, Romola Garai, a British actress, shared her discomfort with Harvey Weinstein. Further, 13 more women accused him. Out of them, 3 accused him of r*pe. Obviously, he denied them. Within a month, multiple women accused him of s*xual harassment.
Zelda Perkins, a former British assistant also accused the movie mogul of harassment. However, after accusing, she was paid $165,200 to keep quiet. Later in 2017, Alyssa Milano used the #MeToo movement in her viral tweet after she accused Harvey Weinstein of s*xual harassment and assault. Till 2018, #MeToo was spread all over the world, and it became a global campaign, and women all over the world shared their stories about getting abused by men in positions of power.
It was in February 2020, Harvey Weinstein was found guilty of third-degree r*pe and first-degree s*xual assault. If this wasn’t enough, further, five women came out accusing of r*pe and s*xual assault. The trial awaits in Los Angeles.
