Written and directed by Pravin Tarde, the film is based on the life of Hansaji Mohite, popularly known as Hambirrao Mohite, who served as military chief during the reign of Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj and Chhatrapati Sambhaji Maharaj.
Released on 27th May, Sarsenapati Hambirrao has completed a theatrical run in Maharashtra for 11 days. In this period, the film has put up a huge collection of 18.20 crores at the box office. Despite several big Bollywood releases, the film is still going strong and even registering houseful shows at several locations.
For those who don’t know, Sarsenapati Hambirrao has been made at a huge cost of 15 crores and is the most expensive Marathi film. If we subtract 15 crores from the total box office collection, the film has yielded a profit of 3.20 crores till now, which is good. As this Pravin Tarde starrer still has a lot of fuel left in it, it’s on its way to becoming a big success.
