Saripodhaa Sanivaaram, starring Nani in the lead role, has wrapped up its theatrical run. In terms of recovery, it has emerged as a big success for the buyers. However, if compared with the budget, the film has failed to become a commercial winner for the makers. Nonetheless, it has managed to be the second highest-grossing film in the career of Nani after Dasara. Now, let’s see how much collection it made at the worldwide box office.
Reception of the film
Written and directed by Vivek Athreya, the Tollywood action thriller was released on August 29. Upon its release, the film received mixed reviews from critics. While the performances of Nani and SJ Suryah were praised, the biggie was criticized for its dull narration and length. Among the ticket-buying audience, the film enjoyed decent word-of-mouth.
Saripodhaa Sanivaaram at the worldwide box office
Saripodhaa Sanivaaram started off well and raked in a solid sum during the opening weekend. However, it failed to maintain the momentum for a long time. As a result, it managed to earn a decent total but couldn’t make that big. In India, it closed its theatrical run at 63.50 crores net. Inclusive of taxes, it equals 74.93 crores gross.
In the overseas market, the Nani starrer did well and wrapped up its theatrical run at 26 crores gross. Combining this with the Indian gross, the worldwide box office journey ended at 100.93 crores gross. It could have covered a slightly higher distance but the OTT release after four weeks hampered the collection.
With a collection of 100.93 crores gross, Saripodhaa Sanivaaram has emerged as Nani’s second highest-grossing film of the actor after Dasara (119 crores gross).
Is Saripodhaa Sanivaaram a success?
The worldwide breakeven for Saripodhaa Sanivaaram was set at 40-42 crores, and against this, it earned a share of 50.20 crores. So, in terms of recovery, the film is a successful affair at the worldwide box office. However, there’s another parameter for deciding the fate of the film and that’s by comparing the budget with the domestic collection.
Reportedly, the Nani starrer is made on a budget of 85 crores, and against this, it has earned 63.50 crores net at the Indian box office. This means that the film is in a deficit of 21.50 crores, so it’s not successful.
On the whole, the film is successful for the buyers but in terms of the box office thumb rule, it’s a flop.
