After staying in buzz for so many months, SS Rajamouli’s highly-awaited RRR is in theatres now. As expected Rajamouli will keep his box office track record intact, and we have day 1 numbers with us to prove it.

Unlike Rajamouli’s previous blockbuster, Baahubali 2, this one had a low pre-release buzz in the Hindi market. One of the important reasons is its stars- Ram Charan and Jr NTR, who aren’t very known faces among the Hindi audience. With a not-so-huge buzz, the film was predicted by many to open in the range of 12-13 crores at max. But the reality is quite surprising.

As per early estimates, RRR has taken a very good start by making 17-19 crores on day 1 in its Hindi version. This is really a good number as the stage has been set to support a big jump on day 2 and day 3.

Interestingly, RRR’s morning shows took off with a decent to a good start. But it was post afternoon shows when occupancy went much higher. During evening and night shows, the film saw a big rise in occupancy. It seems that the effect of highly positive word-of-mouth has is doing the talks now.

With such kind of performance on opening day, one expects the film to earn a weekend collection in the range of 60-65 crores. Let’s see how the film performs tomorrow and on Sunday.

Helmed by SS Rajamouli, RRR stars Jr NTR, Ram Charan, Ray Stevenson, Alison Doody, Makarand Deshpande and Olivia Morris in key roles. It also has Ajay Devgn, Alia Bhatt and Shriya Saran in cameos.

Recently, the budget of the film was revealed which is said to be around 366 crores. This number excludes actors’ fees and GST. It’s reportedly the second most expensive Indian film after 2.0.
