Akshay Kumar’s Ram Setu is all set to release tomorrow all across the country. The film has been awaited for a long by Akki fans. Shockingly, it is carrying an extremely low buzz. So far, it has shown a disappointing response in day 1 advance booking trends at the box office. Let’s see how it is faring with just a few hours remaining for release.
For Akshay, the year 2022 has turned out to be one of the worst years. He has seen 3 back-to-back big box office flops in the form of Bachchhan Paandey, Samrat Prithviraj and Raksha Bandhan. Even his OTT releases- Atrangi Re and Cuttputlli failed to create any mark in the digital world. Clearly, the time hasn’t been good for the star and his upcoming Diwali release too isn’t showing any good signs.
Ram Setu was said to be an event film of Akshay Kumar. However, the actual response in advance booking is an alarming for the makers as so far, the film has accumulated 2.20 crores gross through ticket sale for day 1. With still a few hours to go, the closing number before the release will see some growth. But the thing is, the response is not at all good as one expected it to open in the range of 20-25 crores initially, considering the Diwali period.
Yes, Ram Setu is in a clash with Thank God and despite locking horns, 15 crore+ day 1 looked practical. Now with such low figures, even hitting the 10 crore mark is a task now and everything depends on how much walk-ins the film attracts. For a respectable total for the opening day, the Akshay Kumar starrer will need to carry an extraordinary word-of-mouth and things also depend on the content of its competitor, Thank God.
Ram Setu makers really need to think what really went wrong as they failed to capitalize Diwali season, at least in advance booking trends.
