In the battle of Drishyam 2 VS KGF Chapter 2, Ajay Devgn's film has overtaken Yash's epic blockbuster for 6th weekend at the Indian box office. Read on!
Ajay Devgn’s Drishyam 2 has done phenomenal business at the box office and is already one of the biggest hits from Bollywood in recent times. With multiple releases coming every week, it felt that the film would eventually slow down. But by destroying all the predictions and projections, the suspense thriller is achieving as many feats as possible. In the latest development, it has overtaken Yash’s KGF Chapter 2 (Hindi) in the 6th-weekend collection.
Helmed by Abhishek Pathak, the Drishyam sequel is an official Hindi remake of Jeetu Joseph’s Malayalam film of the same name. Released in 2021, it stars Mohanlal in the lead role of Georgekutty. It was direct OTT release and as per the remake contract, it wasn’t dubbed in the Hindi language.
Amid the strong wave against Bollywood remakes, Drishyam 2 has busted all the myths at the box office and has already gone past the 200 crore mark in India alone. As of now, the official collection stands at 227.94 crores (38 days). As Rohit Shetty’s Cirkus arrived in theatres this Friday, it was expected that the Ajay Devgn starrer would wrap up its run. However, the expectations have totally failed.
During the 6th weekend, despite Avatar 2’s storm and Cirkus’s arrival, Drishyam 2 secured decent number of shows. And when Rohit Shetty’s film turned out to be a no show, the show count for Ajay’s film was increased. As a result, superb growth was witnessed and it came out as a winner in Drishyam 2 VS KGF Chapter 2 (Hindi) battle.
For those who don’t know, KGF Chapter 2 (Hindi) had earned 1.70 crores during the 6th weekend. On the other hand, Drishyam 2 has crossed those numbers by making 3.26 crores.
