The film opened to superb occupancy in the morning shows in Tamil Nadu
Chiyaan Vikram starrer Cobra is finally in theatres across the globe. Here, in India, the film has opened to a very good response. In Tamil Nadu state, the response has been superb. The reports, however, have been mixed so far both from the critics and audiences alike. So let’s find out how the film has fared throughout its day 1 at the box office and what would be its final collection.
The film marks Vikram’s big screen comeback after 3 years. He was last seen in Kadaram Kondan. His latest release has been in the making for a long with the announcement taking place in 2019. It’s one of the most expensive films in Kollywood with the budget reportedly sitting at 90 crores. Now, finally, the wait is over and Vikram fans are flocking theatres in big numbers.
Cobra opened to superb occupancy in the morning shows across Tamil Nadu, which dipped a bit in the afternoon but picked up again in the evening. In Kerala and Karnataka, the reports have been decent to good. While the Telugu version has also shown a good response, in major pockets.
Speaking about the day 1 collection, Cobra is heading to earn between 13-15 crores nett (Tamil, Telugu and Kannada). The figure might go slight here and there as the full reports from the night shows are yet to come. The opening could have been better than this, but now as the reports have been mixed, there would be a bit of a dent in the overall potential of the film on day 1.
Nonetheless, Cobra is all set to become the highest-ever opener for Chiyaan Vikram and is on its way to becoming one of the biggest openers of the year in Tamil Nadu by surpassing RRR’s 10.30 crores.
Now let’s wait for the official figures which would come tomorrow.
