One of the biggest Indian films ever, Brahmastra is all set to hit theatres across the globe on 9th September. The countdown has already started and all eyes are set on its performance as Bollywood is currently in a bad phase. As the release gets closer, one of the most discussed things is the budget of this magnum opus and how much fees Ranbir Kapoor and other actors are charging. So, let’s get started.
Helmed by Ayan Mukerji, the film has been in the making for years. Be it due to the grandeur, heavy use of VFX and other technical stuff, the film took too long to complete. And then, there was the Covid pandemic which caused a big delay. But better late than never, the ambitious project is finally ready to hit theatres.
Talking about the budget of Brahmastra, the film is reportedly made on a whopping budget of 340 crores. However, even with this budget, it’s not the most expensive Bollywood film. Prabhas‘ Saaho, which was a bilingual film (shot in Hindi and Telugu), is considered to be the most expensive Bollywood film with a budget of 350 crores. A huge amount of this cost has been spent on VFX work and the makers have promised to show the best visual effects ever seen in any Indian film.
Coming to fees, it’s Ranbir Kapoor who has charged the most for Brahmastra. He reportedly took 25 crores home as his salary. Alia Bhatt has reportedly charged 10 crores as her fees. Megastar Amitabh Bachchan has taken 8 crores as his salary. Telugu star Nagarjuna has reportedly charged 10 crores for his part, while Mouni Roy took 1 crore for her role.
Releasing on 9th September, Brahmastra will be distributed by Star Studios in India. Walt Disney Studios Motion Pictures will be distributing the film in overseas.
