83 Day 2 Early Estimates: Fails To Reap Christmas Holiday Benefit, Tough Road Ahead

83 is finally in theatres after a wait of over and year and a half. Starring Ranveer Singh in the lead, the film has completed its day 2 at the box office. Let’s see how it sailed through Saturday.

83 opens much below expectations

Ranveer Singh‘s film released on 24th December, a period which is highly lucrative for Bollywood. Despite the benefit of Christmas eve, and being a huge film in itself, the start was much below expectations. For such a project, an opening of at least 20 crores was expected, especially considering a Hollywood film like Spider-Man: No Way Home taking a blockbuster start of over 30 crores.

Remember, 83 has also released in five Indian languages, and it seems, it is bearing no fruit as just 12.84 crores came on day 1.

83’s day 2 performance

After a start of 12.84 crores, a big jump was expected considering Saturday was a Christmas holiday. However, nothing of that sort has been seen as just a slight growth was seen coming. As per early estimates flowing in, the film has managed a collection between 14-16 crores. It seems the 2-day total will be between 26.84-28.84 crores.

Ideally, this total should have been a day 1 number, considering the huge scale of the film. So for now, the film looks on a tough road as a huge budget of 150 crores is riding on it. Getting a theatrical verdict of Hit looks impossible for now.

Eyes on Sunday

After the first two days’ underwhelming performance, all eyes are now set on today’s footfalls. The numbers should touch at least the 20 crores mark.

A few days before the release, positive reviews from most of the critics were flowing in. However, these opinions are hardly getting reflected in numbers at the box office. The makers should introspect on what really went wrong.
