Badla facts are as intriguing as its content!
On 8th March 2019, we saw a powerful film, Badla, backed by power-packed performances of Taapsee Pannu and Amitabh Bachchan arriving on big screens. It’s one of few suspense thrillers that worked really well amongst both class and mass audience. As the film completes 2 years today, we’ll be revisiting some interesting facts related to it, and yes, it includes some box office facts too.
So, without wasting any time, let’s get started:
Badla collected 88.02 crores in India during its theatrical run. With this number, it’s Taapsee Pannu’s 4th highest-grossing film ever. The top 3 places are accommodated by Mission Mangal (200.16 crores), Judwaa (138 crores) and Baby (95.50 crores)
It’s a bit surprising but the film is 2nd highest-grossing film ever for Amitabh Bachchan. Thugs Of Hindostan is at the 1st spot with 145.29 crores.
Badla is the 2nd collaboration between Taapsee and Amitabh after Pink. Just like this one, Pink too was a huge hit at the box office. Interestingly, both the films have Big B playing a lawyer hired by Taapsee.
Sujoy Ghosh made his Bollywood directorial debut back in 2003 with Jhankaar Beats. Unfortunately, the film didn’t witness the success that its soundtracks enjoyed. It was 2012 when Sujoy tasted his first commercial success with Vidya Balan’s Kahaani. After that, this suspense thriller emerged as a hit, thus giving Sujoy his 2nd hit in 17 years (years’ count till 2019).
With Badla, Amitabh worked for the first time under Shah Rukh Khan and Gauri Khan’s Red Chillies Entertainment.
For the unversed, Shah Rukh Khan was supposed to make a cameo in the film but plans were dropped later.
This is something most of our readers would be aware of. The film is a remake of the Spanish film, The Invisible Guest.
