Aishwarya revealed that she was in an abusive relationship with Salman.

While women around the globe were sharing their stories, Aishwarya showed boldness much ago and opened up like no one expected. Years before the #MeToo movement, Aishwarya shared how Salman was abusive in the relation.
Salman Khan and Aishwarya Rai’s love story began in 1997 when there were rumours about Salman marrying his girlfriend, Somy Ali. However, it was during the shoot of Hum Dil De Chuke Sanam, in 1999, their love story blossomed. Later, as per the article in Stardust magazine, it was revealed that when Somy came to know about the relation between the both, she dumped Khan and settled abroad.
The abusive behaviour, for which Aishwarya has always slammed Salman, was first seen in 2001 when the Dabangg actor went to Aish’s apartment and banged her door for hours. His hand started bleeding from banging the door for hours. However, she didn’t open the door until 3 in the morning.
Further, when Aishwarya Rai appeared with a fractured arm at an award night, fans speculated that she has been assaulted. Later she said that she will never tolerate physical abuse, and she fell off the stairs. In 2002, in an interview with Times of India, Aishwarya had admitted that she was in a physically abusive relationship with Khan. She had quoted, “There were times when Salman got physical with me, luckily without leaving any marks. And, I would go to work as if nothing had happened.”
Aishwarya Rai said she received abuse, infidelity and indignity in the relationship, which is why she ended it.
