It’s a special day for all Yash fans as the Rocking Star has turned 35 today. Just before a few hours ago, the superstar unveiled a return gift for his lovers in the form of KGF Chapter 2 teaser. Today, on the auspicious occasion of Sandalwood star’s birthday, we’ll be walking down the memory lane and recall the clash between Rocky Bhai and Shah Rukh Khan’s Zero.

The day of 21st December 2018 is the date when the birthday boy locked horns with none other than, King Khan. To be honest, it wasn’t touted to be a clash of any sort at first. But as the saying goes, “the content is real king”, the entire box office game got changed.

KGF Chapter 1 was undoubtedly considered as a big release, but with limited penetration in Hindi speaking belts. On the other hand, there was stardom of Shah Rukh Khan, who has always been a king of clashes. Eyeballs were grabbed by Excel Entertainment, which was the distributor of Chapter 1 for Hindi version.

For the unversed, Excel Entertainment is a production company founded by Ritesh Sidhwani and Farhan Akhtar. As Farhan and Shah Rukh Khan share a good bond, eyebrows were raised when KGF Chapter 1 (Hindi) was declared to release alongside Zero.

As expected, SRK’s film took a much bigger opening by bringing 20.14 crores. On the other hand, KGF made 2.10 crores with its Hindi version. The first week was fully dominated by Khan by putting a total of 89 crores against competitor’s 21.11 crores. But the real game started after one week’s run.

We all know, how SRK’s film was badly trolled on social media. The word-of-mouth wasn’t in favour either. In the other camp, everyone was delighted with a highly positive response and a rise of PAN India star, Yash. In the second week, Zero made just 7.15 crores, while the Hindi dubbed thriller surprised by putting 11.50 crores on board. Post then there was no looking back!

At the end of the theatrical run, SRK’s film was declared as a debacle with 97.50 crores‘ sum. On the other side, the bearded star made his film a Hit (Hindi version) by putting up an impressive total of 43.93 crores.
