One of the most awaited Bollywood films, Sooryavanshi is all set for a release on the big screens. The date of 5th November is something every box office enthusiast is eagerly waiting for, as the film will theatres all across the country. As it’s the first biggie to witness nationwide release post-COVID, expectations are sky-high.
We all, who love to know about box office, are excited to the core. Some are even predicting some really big numbers. But to be honest, nothing such sort of miracle is happening. So keeping expectations at the practical level, we’ll be discussing how much scope the film has at the ticket windows considering all positives and negatives.
Screen count, release in key markets & Diwali work in the favour of Sooryavanshi!
As it was heard, Rohit Shetty and the team were eagerly waiting for theatres in Maharashtra. As Maharashtra has always been a big market for Shetty and Akshay Kumar’s films, the reopening is a sure shot to help in a big way.
The latest update on the screen count has also come. It’s been almost confirmed that the film is releasing on around 3200 screens across the country. The count might go upwards as the release date comes closer. Getting so much count to get screened across India is a big factor that will help the film in garnering footfalls in big numbers.
And the last important factor is the Diwali festival. This festival has always been a saviour for Bollywood as families love flocking theatres during this period.
COVID scare & 50% occupancy work against the film
Definitely, the Diwali period will benefit Sooryavanshi, but don’t expect people in numbers we used to see before the pandemic. Until it’s not declared that “the world is COVID free”, there will be scare among people about watching the film in theatres.
Another major spoilsport is the rule of 50% occupancy. Every theatre is bound to follow the 50% occupancy rule, which rules out half of the audience for each show.
What to expect from Sooryavanshi at the box office?
Considering all the positive and negative factors of the film, we expect the film to take a start in the range of 13-15 crores. In normal conditions, it would have been over 30 crores but considering all hurdles, touching 15 crores would be a superb achievement.
Sooryavanshi in its first weekend is expected to earn in the range of 46-48 crores. We can even have a safe bet on the film to become the first 100 crore grosser for Bollywood post the pandemic. Sure shot ‘acche din’ on the way for theatres!
Apart from Akshay Kumar, the film also stars Katrina Kaif, Javed Jaffery, Jackie Shroff, Ajay Devgn & Ranveer Singh in key roles.
