In India, we haven’t seen a pan India storm at the box office in the last couple of years. But that might be silence before destruction. Yes, KGF Chapter 2 is all geared up to hit the big screen, as soon as possible after theatres start operating normally. No matter how long it takes, the film is capable of sending shockwaves across the country and setting new records.
Primarily, the film is eyeing four categories to take on. Those include- highest opening inclusive of all versions, highest opening with the Hindi version, highest-grossing film in India (all versions) and the Hindi dubbed highest-grossing down south film.
Opening (All versions)
Baahubali 2: The Conclusion is rocking the highest opening day record cumulative of all its versions. It made 121 crores on day 1 in India. The next four positions are held by Saaho (88 crores), 2.0 (63 crores), War (53.35 crores) and Thugs Of Hindostan (52.25 crores). KGF Chapter 2 could possibly challenge Saaho’s opening day, but it will be exciting to see if recreates the Baahubali-like magic and cross 121 crores.
Opening (Hindi)
Again Baahubali 2 is in the first place as it made a whopping 41 crores on day 1 (Hindi version). The next four include- Saaho (24.40 crores), 2.0 (20.25 crores), Kabali (5.20 crores) and Baahubali: The Beginning (5.15 crores). Here too, it seems like KGF 2 will beat Saaho.
Domestic lifetime collection
Another list and Baahubali 2 yet again! With a magnanimous collection of 1031 crores, the SS Rajamouli directorial is the leading race of highest-grossing film in India. Baahubali: The Beginning is at 2nd with 418 crores, 2.0 is at 3rd with 408 crores, Dangal is at 4th with 388 crores and Sanju is at 5th with 341.22 crores. Given the buzz of KGF 2, the Yash starrer has a chance to hit the 500 crore mark in India alone.
Hindi dubbed highest-grossing down south film
Baahubali 2 is the highest-grossing down south film if we talk about its Hindi version. It made a whopping 511.30 crores. Interestingly, even Bollywood has failed to challenge this number. At 2nd is 2.0 with 188 crores. Saaho is at 3rd with 149 crores. Baahubali: The Beginning is at 4th with 120 crores. KGF Chapter 1 is at 5th with 43.93 crores. Here, 1st position is out of KGF 2’s reach, but every position is achievable.
So basically, each and every category is dominated by Baahubali 2 and it looks like KGF Chapter 2 will find it hard to beat the dominating box office monster. Leaving aside topper Baahubali 2, every other position could be achieved.
