The year 2023 has just begun and we all hope that it brings more glory at the box office. As we step into the new year, we look back at the most profitable Hindi films of 2022. The list is topped by none other than The Kashmir Files. While TKF was bound to rule the list with its staggering profit, Kantara (Hindi) joined the list as a surprised entrant.
Before we go further, let us inform you that the list of profitable films consists of the Hindi films with at least 100% returns. There are only 6 films in total and out of them, 3 are dubbed releases and not actual Bollywood films. Now, isn’t that exciting?
Speaking about the dubbed films, Kantara (Hindi) is topping the list, much ahead of KGF Chapter 2 (Hindi). Check it out below:
The Kashmir Files – The Vivek Agnihotri directorial is the biggest Hindi blockbuster of 2022. Made at a budget of 20 crores, the film earned 253 crores at the Indian box office. Its returns stand at 233 crores, which equals 1165% profit.
Kantara (Hindi) – This film from the Sandalwood industry left everyone jaw dropped with its box office performance. In the Hindi version alone, it earned 82.90 crores. Considering its Hindi distribution rights price of 7.50 crores, the Rishab Shetty starrer made 75.40 crores returns i.e. 1005.33% profit.
Karthikeya 2 (Hindi) – This one was another surprise hit 2022 coming from Tollywood. In Hindi, it made 31.35 crores, thus earning 26.85 crores considering the Hindi rights price of 4.50 crores. It earned profit of 596.66%.
KGF Chapter 2 (Hindi) – Starring Yash, this film from the Sandalwood industry rewrote the box office record books with its unprecedented success. Its Hindi rights were reportedly sold at 90 crores, while it earned a whopping 435 crores in the lifetime run. It made a profit of 345 crores i.e. 383.33%.
Drishyam 2 – This Ajay Devgn starrer emerged as Super-Hit despite being a remake. Till now, it has made 233 crores at the Indian box office. Considering the budget of 80 crores, the film has made returns of 153 crores i.e. 191.25%.
Bhool Bhulaiyaa 2 – Starring Kartik Aaryan, this film performed much beyond everyone’s expectations. Made at just 65 crores, it made 185.92 crores in India. It earned returns of 120.92 crores i.e. 186.03%.
