RRR and KGF Chapter 2 did enough explosions at the box office this year, but the real deal is going to be the year 2023. Adipurush, Salaar and Pushpa are already looking like mega-blockbusters in the making and we can see their potential of taking an earth-shattering opening of 100 crores in India. In 2017, Baahubali 2: The Conclusion did the unthinkable as it raked in record-breaking 121 crores (all languages) on its opening day. The feat of 100 crores remained untouchable until RRR managed to achieve it with flying colours. Not only did it cross the 100 crore mark, but also surpassed Baahubali 2’s numbers. And in the very next month, KGF Chapter 2 hit the century on day 1.
In 2023, three biggies are aiming to hit the century on their opening day with things falling in place properly. Have a look:
Adipurush
Prabhas is undoubtedly the biggest crowd-puller of India in current times. While he has thunderous openings of Baahubali 2 and Saaho (88 crores) by his side, even his not-so-well promoted Radhe Shyam did wonders on its opening day by making 40 crore+. His presence alone has made the film one of the most anticipated films in Bollywood.
On top of that, the fact that this pan-Indian film is based on the Indian epic Ramayana with Prabhas playing lord Ram has raised everyone’s excitement. Even the VFX work of the film has been in talks for its superiority. All these factors have created a huge pre-release buzz already.
Speaking of the box office calculations, Adipurush is looking for a thunderous start in the Hindi market and it’s obvious that the Telugu version will bring earth-shattering numbers. Including numbers of other versions, the film has every chance of hitting the 100 crore mark on opening day.
Salaar
The first-ever collaboration of KGF director Prashanth Neel and Prabhas with action being the genre. Do we need to say anything more?
Salaar is one of the biggest pan-Indian films ever and it has been crazily awaited ever since it was announced. With all the craze and Prabhas’ star value, the film will undoubtedly rewrite box office record books. But things have become crazier ever since the theories related to its connection with KGF Chapter 3 have been flowing in. As per rumours, Yash will be seen in a cameo and that itself has taken the buzz to a whole new level.
A sure-shot 100 crore opening day banger!
Pushpa 2
Third on the list is the Pushpa sequel (titled Pushpa: The Rule). We all know the craze Pushpa created when released last year. It went viral like crazy and saw one of the best trendings at the box office in recent times (specifically talking about the Hindi version). The film had taken a start of 40 crore+.
Now after such a huge success, the hype is at its all-time high and just like KGF, the sequel will be taking a much bigger start in the Hindi market. Be it a face-off between Allu Arjun and Fahadh Faasil or the rumoured casting of Vijay Sethupathi, people are going berserk for the Pushpa sequel. Including the numbers of all versions, Pushpa 2 would easily cross the 100 crore mark on its opening day.
