Sarsenapati Hambirrao is finally in theatres after being anticipated for months. It has been promoted as ‘Maharashtracha Mahacinema’ as it’s the most expensive film in the Marathi film industry ever. Now, let’s see how much love this film has garnered by taking a look at its box office collection.
For those who don’t know, the film is a period drama based on the courageous life of Hansaji Mohite, who served as military head during the reign of Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj and Chhatrapati Sambhaji Maharaj. It has been in talks due to the grandeur and scale of its shoot.
Now talking about the box office collections, Sarsenapati Hambirrao has enjoyed a terrific response during its first weekend in Maharashtra. As per official figures, the film has amassed 8.71 crores at the box office in the first 3 days. It’s really huge and the film is on its way to becoming a blockbuster.
If we compare this with the recent Marathi blockbuster Dharmaveer, it lags by 0.37 crore as the Prasad Oak starrer had made 9.08 crores during its first weekend. Nonetheless, it’s one of the biggest openings for the Marathi film ever. For the unversed, the film is made on a budget of 15 crores and it looks like the cost will be recovered in the next few days.
