The ongoing clash for the Independence Day weekend has turned out to be beneficial for Bollywood. Both Gadar 2 and OMG 2 have turned out to be winners at the Indian box office and won’t be slowing down anytime soon. Within 5 days of release, the budgets of both biggies are recovered and below is everything you need to know, including the worldwide collection!
Record-breaking collections in the Independence Day extended weekend
We have witnessed several high-voltage clashes at the Indian box office, but none has been this lucrative. After the first 5 days, Sunny Deol’s comeback film has left everyone shocked by raking in an unprecedented total of 228.98 crores at the Indian box office.
On the other hand, Pankaj Tripathi and Akshay Kumar’s OMG 2 too has turned out to be a winner and is riding high on positive word-of-mouth. In the first 5 days, it has earned 72.27 crores in India.
Both films have contributed an unbelievable sum of 301.25 crores during the extended 5-day weekend.
Gadar 2 & OMG 2 worldwide box office collection till now
Contrary to the superb run at the Indian box office, both Gadar 2 and OMG 2 haven’t managed to do well in the overseas market. The Sunny Deol starrer has made just 28 crores gross so far. On the other hand, the Akshay Kumar and Pankaj Tripathi starrer has earned 14 crores gross till now.
Combining Indian gross of 270.19 crores gross (228.98 crores nett) with overseas gross of 28 crores, Gadar 2 stands at a worldwide collection of 298.19 crores gross in just 5 days. Adding today’s collection, the film has already crossed the 300-crore mark and it will be made official after the collection comes out tomorrow.
Speaking about OMG 2, the film has earned 85.27 crores gross (72.27 crores nett) in India. Combining this with overseas gross of 14 crores, the worldwide total stands at 99.27 crores gross.
Budget of Gadar 2 & OMG 2
Both these biggies have been made at a controlled cost and due to the same reason, both have emerged as box office winners within just 5 days.
It is learnt that Gadar 2 has been made at a budget of just 80 crores and is heading towards an all-time blockbuster status. On the side, OMG 2 carries a budget of 70 crores and has already recovered the investment.
