This year has been really fantastic so far for the Malayalam film industry as one after another back-to-back successes have been witnessed. In this list of successful films, legendary Mollywood superstar, Mammootty is proudly flaunting his name by delivering an experimental yet theatrical winner in the form of Bramayugam. Received a thumbs up from critics & audiences
Directed by Rahul Sadasivan, the film was released in theatres on 15th February. It opened to highly positive reviews from critics all around. Even among audiences, it enjoyed positive talks. However, maybe due to the experimental concept, it couldn’t see itself becoming a blockbuster kind of affair. Still, it did enough to be a commercial winner.
Final worldwide collection update
Bramayugam started its journey on a decent note and then, due to positive talks, it witnessed good jumps over weekends and remained steady during weekdays. Due to other Malayalam blockbusters like Premalu and Manjummel Boys conquering the box office, this Mammootty starrer suffered a dent to an extent. Still, it managed to bring in 27 crores net at the Indian box office.
Including the entertainment taxes across the country, the gross collection of Bramayugam equals 31.86 crores.
In the overseas market, too, the film emerged as a winner and did really well by garnering 26.80 crores gross. Adding this to the Indian gross, the worldwide box office collection stands at 58.66 crores gross.
Bramayugam does a good job for its budget
The black-and-white thriller was reportedly made at a budget of just 15 crores. Malayalam films have always been known for their humble costs, which help them enjoy big profits. This one too has benefitted due to its controlled cost. Against the cost of 15 crores, Bramayugam has earned returns of 12 crores, when compared to its Indian collection.
