Ajnabee is considered to be one of the best films of Akshay Kumar. But how many of you know that the role played by Akshay was initially offered to Shah Rukh Khan? We bet, not many would be aware of the fact. So today, we’ll be taking at how SRK’s loss turned to be Akshay’s massive gain.

For the unversed, Ajnabee was the remake of the Hollywood film ‘Consenting Adults’. Starring Akshay Kumar, Bobby Deol, Kareena Kapoor and Bipasha Basu, the film was directed by Abbas Mastan and released in 2001. The movie turned out to be a great success at the box office. The twists and turns made in the plot of the film made people glued to the seats.

The remake of the Hollywood film ‘Consenting Adults’ directed by Alan J Pakula, this Abbas Mustan directorial gained immense popularity for Akshay and presented his new side to the audience.

Akshay played the role of the antagonist, Vikram Bajaj, which was originally supposed to be played by Shah Rukh Khan. It’s said that Shah Rukh wasn’t very keen on playing Vikram Bajaj’s character. Hence, it went to Akshay.

The movie won many awards, accolades and nominations in the mainstream award functions. Akshay won the Best Villain award at Filmfare and Bipasha was honoured with the Best Debutant award that year. It was the first Filmfare win for Akshay!
