Kartik Aaryan backing out of Dostana 2 is the biggest shocker for Bollywood in recent times. Soon after his exit, he was even banned by Karan Johar’s Dharma Productions for a lifetime. In the past few days, several speculations have been in the market, but now, another reason is coming to lights.
As reported earlier, Kartik miffed Karan with his unprofessional behaviour like avoiding shoots and showing a starry attitude. Now, as per the latest reason, the Luka Chuppi actor had asked for a huge hike on an amount for which he was signed initially. What really annoyed Karan is, the actor demanded the price hike mid-way. For those who don’t know, Kartik had signed Dostana 2 in 2019 for an approx amount of 3 crores. But post-signing the Dostana sequel, the actor got floored with paycheques of as high as 10 crores for the film offers. Also, Kartik is now a much bigger star in the advertising world. Considering such a demand in the market, the actor asked Karan to pay him around 10 crores.
After a lot of discussions, Karan Johar agreed with Kartik Aaryan’s point of view. But instead of giving a hike, Kartik was offered one more film in the form of Mr. Lele. Interestingly, Karan signed Vicky Kaushal for Mr. Lele and it upset the Sonu Ke Titu Ki Sweety actor. Post Lele, Shahid Kapoor came on board for Yoddha. Kartik felt of getting betrayed as he saw all biggies being offered to other actors but not him. On the other hand, Kartik was delaying the shoot of Dostana 2 by giving COVID-19’s reason. But to KJo’s shock, Kartik shot for Dhamaka during the same period and the relations between the two got tensed.
Amidst all such things, Karan Johar planned a film with director Sharan Sharma, and reportedly, Kartik Aaryan was offered a lead role. But the latter wasn’t sure of KJo’s words as he felt betrayed in the case of Mr. Lele and Yoddha. The actor put forth a condition of getting through an official contract for Sharan Sharma’s next or he will not resume the shoot of Dostana 2. All these made the situation worse and the producer had no option left but to remove Kartik from the Dostana sequel.
Meanwhile, Dostana 2 will get a new lead very soon and reportedly, Rajkummar Rao might join the project.
