In the last few months, we have seen the trend of re-releases really blooming in the Tollywood industry. Recently, fans of Pawan Kalyan and Mahesh Babu arranged special shows on the occasion of their respective stars and the experiment turned out to be a huge success. The birthday celebration turned out beneficial for exhibitors.
Prabhas is celebrating his 43rd birthday on 23rd October and ahead of it, his Rebel is set to re-release on 15th October. It is being said that the film will be arranged for a record number of special shows and trade experts predicting it to break previous records.
Last month, on 2nd September, special shows of Pawan Kalyan’s Jalsa were arranged on the occasion of his birthday. It made a record collection for re-release (special shows) by raking in 2.35 crores gross in Telugu states. It surpassed the number of Mahesh Babu’s Pokiri, which re-released on 9th August on the occasion of Mahesh’s birthday. Pokiri’s special shows earned 1.50 crores gross in Telugu states.
Prabhas’ Rebel re-release is expected to surpass Mahesh Babu’s record of 1.50 crores but getting past the number of 2.35 crores will be a real test of the Bahubali actor’s stardom at the box office.
For the unversed, though Pawan Kalyan isn’t a pan-India star, his pull at the box office in Telugu states is tremendous. It will be interesting to see if Rebel’s re-release manages to go past Jalsa’s record numbers.
