Take a look at how Hrithik Roshan spent his last decade (2011-2020) at the box office.
The powerhouse of talent, Bollywood’s superhero and a breathtaking dancer, these all sum up for Hrithik Roshan. Yes, we are talking about the man who can make any woman in the world go weak in their knees. It’s an occasion of his 47th birthday today and we’ll be talking on how he spent his last decade (2011-2020) at the box office.
Sadly, he didn’t have a single release in 2020 (not even on OTT) but the memories of his 2019’s biggie, War, are still fresh. It had Tiger Shroff and him sharing the screen for the first time and as expected, everyone saw fireworks at the box office.
Let’s take a look at how Hrithik Roshan silently made his work make all the noise in the last decade:
It’s amongst the cult films of Hrithik Roshan. Released in 2011, ZNMD turned out to be a good success by raking 90 crores in India. The film was declared a box office hit. Apart from HR, it had an amazing cast of Abhay Deol, Katrina Kaif, Farhan Akhtar, Kalki Koechlin and others.
Reboot to 1990 classic of the same name was appreciated for its action and emotional quotient. Released in 2012, the film was declared as a super hit at the box office with a sum of 122 crores. His avatar of Vijay Dinanath Chauhan was loved by masses. It was HR’s first 100 crore entrant.
Riding high on the franchise’s popularity and 2013’s Diwali festive season, K3 literally did fireworks. The superhero film was loved by kids and families. Just after giving first 100 crore grosser, Hrithik pulled off a double century as K3 made 244 crores. Superhit!
Not so much for critics but Bang Bang had enough masala for masses. It had everything- music, dance, action, thrill and romance. The pair of Katrina Kaif and Hrithik was loved by one and all. With a total of 181 crores, the film was amongst the highest grossers of 2014. It was a semi-hit at the box office.
This Ashutosh Gowariker directorial is the only flop in Hrithik’s decade run. Not just its numbers were hampered by Akshay Kumar’s Rustom, but even the word-of-mouth didn’t work in the favour. It made 58 crores and was declared as one of the biggest flops of 2016.
While one clash made a dent, other clash proved beneficial. In 2017, Kaabil locked horns with Shah Rukh Khan’s Raees. Thanks to the clash, the film made a good pre-release hype and post-release, the content did all the talking. It made 126.85 crores and was a box office hit.
2019 proved to be a lucky year for Hrithik Roshan. With Super 30, the actor managed to please both masses and classes. It made a sum of 146 crores and was declared a commercial success. Not just number game, the film saw HR’s one of the best performances.
After the success of Super 30, War ended 2019 on a high note for Hrithik. The film turned out to be the highest grosser of the year. It made 319 crores and was a box office hit.
