Starring Akshay Kumar in a lead, the film has picked up really well on its second Saturday. On the second Friday i.e. day 8, the cop drama earned 6.83 crores at the box office. And now, as per trade reports, the film is earning a double-digit score on day 9.

As per early estimates, Sooryavanshi has earned 10-11 crores* on its day 9. Including this number, the film now stands at a grand total of 137.49-138.49 crores*. On Sunday, the collection is expected to touch the 150 crore mark. Now, the 200 crore mark seems clearly attainable.

Helmed by Rohit Shetty, Sooryavanshi also stars Katrina Kaif, Jackie Shroff, Gulshan Grover, Abhimanyu Singh, Jaaved Jaaferi and Nikitin Dheer in key roles. It also stars Ajay Devgn reprising his Singham act, while Ranveer Singh donning the uniform of Simmba. Both the stars are seen in cameos.

The film released on 5th November 2021 across the globe. In India, this cop drama released on over 3200 screens, while in overseas, the film released on around 1300 screens.

Meanwhile, the gamble of arriving only on the big screens has surely paid off for Rohit Shetty and Akshay Kumar. If reports are to be believed, Sooryavanshi had received several offers from OTT giants with a monstrous amount. However, the makers decided to stick to their traditional plan of arriving only in theatres.

Theatres owners/exhibitors were really touched by this move and decided to allot full screening for the film.

For the unversed, as Akshay said during one of his media events, they were waiting for the theatres in Maharashtra to reopen. As the state is the main market of Bollywood and both Akshay, Shetty also enjoys a huge following here, the film was on hold until theatres in Maharashtra reopened.
