Pawankhind has brought back the golden days at the box office for the Marathi cinema. Released on 18th February, the film is running successfully all across the Maharashtra state. Keep reading to know in detail.
Ahead of the auspicious occasion of Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj Jayanti (19th February), Pawankhind released in the theatres of Maharashtra. Surprisingly, there wasn’t much promotion of the film even though its trailer became a hit on YouTube. Thanks to positive word-of-mouth, the film is earning record-breaking numbers.
As per the report in Pinkvilla, Pawankhind has collected over 6 crores during its opening weekend. The number is a rough estimate and the actual number is said to be higher. The magnum opus earned 1.15 crores on opening day and witnessed a jump the next day due to Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj Jayanti making 2.05 crores. On the third day, numbers grew even further as 3 crores came in. The grand total at the box office from Maharashtra now stands at 6.20 crores.
Unlike Bollywood films, Marathi films don’t depend much on the weekend push as we have seen in previous cases like Mulshi Pattern, where the film went strength to strength during weekdays. So, here too, with positive reviews flowing in, Pawankhind is expected to do wonders at the ticket windows in Maharashtra during weekdays.
As of now, the film has been allocated tremendous screening in the state with over 1900 shows running from Sunday onwards. Exciting reports are coming from several centers that more shows are being played in theatres due to public demand. Such a huge success has given strong hopes for upcoming Marathi releases, especially Pravin Tarde’s historical drama, Sarsenapati Hambirrao.
Coming back to Pawankhind, the film stars Chinmay Mandlekar, Ajay Purkay, Sameer Dharmadhikari, Mrinal Kulkarni, Ankit Mohan, Astad Kale, Prajakta Mali, Harish Dudhade and others.
