After enjoying a glorious journey for almost a couple of months, the curtains are down for Prabhas’ Kalki 2898 AD. Yes, the biggie has wrapped up its theatrical journey at the worldwide box office by earning well over 1000 crores gross. It ended up being the seventh highest-grossing film globally in the history of Indian cinema and just missed the chance of surpassing Shah Rukh Khan’s Pathaan. Directed by Nag Ashwin, the dystopian sci-fi action drama was released in theatres on June 27, 2024. It was released in five Indian languages – Telugu, Hindi, Tamil, Kannada, and Malayalam. The film did superb business in its original Telugu and dubbed Hindi versions. In Malayalam and Tamil versions, it performed decently, while the Kannada version remained underwhelming.
At the Indian box office, Kalki 2898 AD wrapped up at 651 crores net. Out of this, the Telugu version contributed 288 crores, while the Hindi version contributed a chunk of 294 crores. The Tamil version and Malayalam version contributed 36.50 crores, and 26.50 crores respectively. The Kannada version contributed 6 crores.
Including taxes, Kalki 2898 AD stands at 768.18 crores gross in India. In overseas, it closed its run at 273 crores gross, with a majority of the chunk coming in from North America (USA and Canada). For the uninitiated, at the North American box office, the biggie raked in around 154 crores gross. Adding the overseas gross to the Indian gross, the worldwide box office collection of the film wrapped up at 1041.18 crores gross.
On the list of the highest-grossing Indian films at the worldwide box office, Kalki 2898 AD ended up being the seventh highest-grosser, below Pathaan’s 1069 crores gross.
