Doctor G starring Ayushmann Khurrana releases this Friday & advance booking for the same is open. Check out how it is faring at the box office so far!
Doctor G starring Ayushmann Khurrana is all set to release in theatres this Friday. It’s typically an Ayushmann film i.e. touching another social taboo. In the pre-Covid era, the film had high chances of taking a very start at the box office. However, now, it looks a risky choice. Let’s see how it is faring in advance booking for day 1 so far.
We have seen that Ayushmann’s two back-to-back films have flopped at the box office. Out of two, Chandigarh Kare Aashiqui was out-and-out Ayushmann film with a dose of humour and a serious subject which remains untouched in the society. It would have worked during the era before Covid as the actor was enjoying his golden run at the box office.
Coming back to Doctor G, the advance booking of the film started a couple of days back. However, it seems that the audience is either unaware or not interested in this film as the trend is dull so far. As of now, advance ticket sale of just 24.98 lakhs has been recorded and the number is moving forward at a snail speed. With one day (tomorrow) remaining in the release, it feels like the film might struggle in getting at 50 lakhs. The mark of 1 crore is clearly out of sight now.
We have seen in the case of Hrithik Roshan and Saif Ali Khan’s Vikram Vedha where despite good pre-release buzz, the film failed in raking in good numbers in advance booking. Here, the situation is really worse as Doctor G is Ayushmann Khurrana’s first 18+ rated film. So, the factor of family entertainment gets cancelled, the factor which had been crucial for Ayushmann’s box office successes.
Apart from the ‘A’ certification thing, Doctor G has a tough competitor in Kantara (Hindi), which is releasing this Friday. Given the buzz among people, the Kannada film is all set to give a tough competition. It won’t surprise us if Kantara opens better than Ayushmann’s film.
