Finally, the report for which box office enthusiasts were waiting has come. Yes, Bell Bottom day 1 collection report is out. It is based on early estimates, and take note that it might change slightly here and there.
Starring Akshay Kumar in a lead role, the film had witnessed an amazing response in advance bookings. And as expected, occupancy too was good. However, it’s important to consider that cinema halls in states have been allowed to run at 50% capacity due to social distancing guidelines. Also, in some parts, shows post 8 pm are not allowed, hence losing out on a chunk of a family audience.
Apart from guidelines and restrictions, some major states like Maharashtra are not screening Bell Bottom. And on top of all, the COVID scare still exists. Despite all such hurdles, the film has pulled off a start of 4.50-5.60 crores on day 1.
The numbers are a bit lower than what we predicted the film to earn at least 7 crores. However, that’s not the case here. Nonetheless, shout out to Akshay Kumar and the team to take such a bold step of releasing the film in theatres despite restrictions. It will surely encourage more filmmakers and distributors to come forward. Positive effects are already seen as Amitabh Bachchan and Emraan Hashmi starrer Chehre too is releasing in theatres this month.
Coming back to Bell Bottom collections, the numbers are expected to stay steady on day 2 as advance booking report is good. The film is enjoying a 4-day extended weekend. The least we expect is 18-20 crores coming during the first weekend considering positive word-of-mouth.
The good news is, Bell Bottom will release in phases as several states allow theatres to reopen. All eyes will be set on how the film performs once Maharashtra reopens.
