Antim finally opened yesterday across India amid a clash with John Abraham’s Satyameva Jayate 2. Starring Aayush Sharma and Salman Khan in lead, the film is off to a fair start at the box office. Below is all you need to know.
Ever since the trailer was dropped, it was said that the film isn’t an out-and-out commercial potboiler. The film looked content-driven and more dependent on Aayush Sharma. So, a big start wasn’t expected on an opening day.
As per early estimates, Antim has done a business of 4.50-5 crores on day 1. Though it’s very less when a name like Salman Khan is attached, we have seen earlier that the films with big stars’ cameo have always taken a slow to a decent start.
The stage has been set for Antim as the word of mouth is highly positive. Today and tomorrow, a huge jump is expected in numbers. Another benefit is that the film is now under the negligible influence of Satyameva Jayate 2 as John Abraham starrer has received mixed to negative word-of-mouth. So, there’s not a huge competition of any sort.
It will be interesting to see if the film manages to hit 10 crores or go above today or tomorrow. If the numbers witness a huge spike, a good lifetime collection is sure on the cards as there’s no big competition for the next few weeks.
Antim is directed by Mahesh Manjrekar. The film is an official remake of 2018’s Marathi film, Mulshi Pattern. The original one was helmed by Pravin Vitthal Tarde. The film depicts the plight of farmers of Pune, who either sell or were forced to sell their farmlands at a minuscule rate during the emergence of the IT sector.
