Selfiee starring Akshay Kumar and Emraan Hashmi is just a few hours away from its big screen release. After the historic success of Pathaan, hopes are high from upcoming Bollywood films and Akki’s upcoming film is one important release. However, in advance booking for day 1, the film is showing a shocking trend at the box office and it’s not at all a good sign.
For those don’t know, this Raj Mehta directorial is an official Hindi remake of Prithiviraj Sukumaran and Suraj Venjaramoodu’s Malayalam film, Driving Licence. The Akshay Kumar and Emraan Hashmi starrer isn’t an out and out comedy film and one doesn’t expect it to start on a high note. Having said that, the film is lagging far behind in adding pre-sales number which would give it an initial momentum at the box office.
Advance booking report of Selfiee
As of 10.30 pm today, Selfiee has sold tickets worth 76 lakhs all across the country. Please note that this number doesn’t include blocked seats. This is an extremely shocking figure for a film with a face value of Akshay Kumar. And also remember that, the film isn’t a moderately budgeted film but carries a budget of 100 crores and a solid start is needed to justify such a big project.
Selfiee will eventually cross the mark of 1 crore by midnight or before the first show starts. However, it’s really disappointing that the film will fail to cross Akshay Kumar’s own Raksha Bandhan, which had earned around 2 crores in advance booking for day 1 despite a clash with Laal Singh Chaddha.
Now, all eyes are set on walk-ins tomorrow as it will decide if Selfiee garners respectable total or not on its opening day.
