JugJugg Jeeyo Movie Review: Varun Dhawan Shuts Trolls Like A Boss Through This Highly Entertaining Family Entertainer!

The entire cast delivers a fantastic performance

JugJugg Jeeyo Movie Review: Living their loveless life in Canada, Kukoo (Varun Dhawan) and Naina (Kiara Advani) have literally given up on each other after 5 years of their marriage. Things are really messy and they want to divorce each other. Their plan of divorce faces a halt as both mutually decide to wait until Kukoo’s sister Ginny’s (Prajakta Koli) marriage happens. Kukoo and Naina come back to their homeland Punjab for Ginny’s wedding. While the duo is planning to inform about their decision to separate to their family, Kukoo comes to know that his father Bheem (Anil Kapoor) is planning to divorce his mother (Neetu Kapoor) and already has an affair with Meera (Tisca Chopra). Things eventually come to light and the entire family is on the verge of breaking down.

What happens next? Will Kukoo and Naina really separate from each other? Will Kukoo be able to save his parents’ marriage? JugJugg Jeeyo answers it all with a dose of emotions and humour.

Actors – Varun Dhawan, Anil Kapoor, Kiara Advani, Neetu Kapoor, Maniesh Paul, Prajakta Koli, Tisca Chopra & Varun Sood.

Director – Raj Mehta

Length – 2 hours 28 minutes

Hits – The story isn’t completely new as there are ample Bollywood films that have been made on the mess in relationships. Here the screenplay and direction is really good as the treatment looks fresh and keeps you highly entertained throughout the film. After Good Newwz, Raj Mehta once again brings to you a light-hearted entertainer laced with humour and a pinch of emotions. Funny situations, a confrontational scene between Varun-Kiara and a climax are highlights.

Speaking of the performances, Varun Dhawan shuts his trolls and haters with his performance. The actor has come a long way and brings out subtle emotions in scenes. After delivering some really disappointing films, Varun gets a perfect film to prove his mettle. Kiara Advani isn’t just a pretty face here and is convincing as Naina, who is struggling between a dying marriage and a successful yet demanding career.

Good to see Neetu Kapoor after a long time. She’s effortless as a typical Punjabi woman who cares for her family. At the age of 65, Anil Kapoor is killing it with his energy. He is rocking as a well-settled family man who loves to live a colourful life. Be it funny scenes or emotional scenes, the actor brings out the best to the table.

Maniesh Paul is a surprise package as his sheer appearance on the screen makes you smile. His comic timing is superb and tickles your funny bones in almost every scene. Prajakta Mali does just about a decent job as Ginny.

Music supports the film very well and is enjoyable.

Misses – Yes, the treatment is fresh but JugJugg Jeeyo follows a typical template of a family entertainer. You can feel that it has shades of Kapoor & Sons, Dil Dhadakne Do and other films dealing with similar concepts.

The film has an elite feel to it and might not be that appealing outside the segment of the urban audience.

The film is very predictable throughout its length.

Is it worth watching?

As said above, JugJugg Jeeyo is predictable but it does its job well and that’s entertaining the audience. With a pinch of emotions and humour, the film is a perfect family entertainer and a good watch!

Popcorn score- 7 out of 10
