The trend of remakes isn’t slowing down anytime soon in Bollywood as it has become a successfull money minting machine. It’s always a safe option to put your money on tried and accepted subject. The quality of the product we get at the end might be debatable. Today, in this piece, we’ll be answering – Which Bollywood actor has most remakes under his kitty? We will be considering the last decade i.e. 2011 to 2020 during which the industry saw a boom of remakes like never before.
It has been a bit of hard work to found out the remakes done by Bollywood actors during the mentioned period, but it’s really satisfying. Surprisingly, we found out that the list doesn’t feature Shah Rukh Khan and Aamir Khan. We zeroed down to Salman Khan, Ajay Devgn and Akshay Kumar, who has been part of the most remakes.
Starting from the least, Ajay Devgn is at the 3rd spot. Since 2011, the actor has been part of 5 remakes. Singham which gave a new recognition to Devgn is a remake of Suriya’s 2010 Tamil hit, Singam. In 2012, Ajay Devgn was seen in Tezz alongside Kangana Ranaut and Anil Kapoor. It is a remake of the 1975 Japanese film, The Bullet Train. Devgn’s Son Of Sardaar which too released in 2012, is a remake of SS Rajamouli’s 2010 Telugu hit, Maryada Ramanna. Ajay’s 2013 release, Himmatwala, is a remake of a 1983 film of the same name. The last one is Drishyam which is a remake of the 2013 Malayalam hit of the same name.
On the second position is Salman Khan as he has 7 remakes in his kitty. His Ready is a remake of a 2008 Telugu hit that had the same title. Salman’s Bodyguard is a remake of a 2010 Malayalam film, Bodyguard. Salman’s Jai Ho is a remake of AR Murugadoss’ Telugu film, Stalin, which released in 2006. 2014’s blockbuster Kick is an official remake of Ravi Teja’s Telugu hit, Kick which released in 2009. Tubelight which released in 2017 is a remake of a 2015 Hollywood film, Little Boy. Salman Khan’s Radhe is a remake of the South Korean film, The Outlaws.
Akshay Kumar sits at the top with 8 remakes from 2011 to 2020. His Rowdy Rathore is an official remake of Ravi Teja’s 2006 Telugu hit, Vikramarkudu. Akshay Kumar’s OMG- Oh My God is a remake of the 2001 Australian film, The Man Who Sued God. Akshay’s Boss is a remake of the 2010 Malayalam release, Pokkiri Raja. His Holiday is a remake of AR Murugadoss’ Thupakki which featured Thalapathy Vijay. Akshay’s Gabbar Is Back is a remake of AR Murugadoss’ 2002 Tamil hit, Ramanna. Akshay’s 2015 release, Brothers is a remake of Hollywood’s Warrior (2011). Singh Is Bliing, a quasi-sequel of Singh Is Kinng, is a remake of the Korean film, My Wife Is A Gangster 3. Last is Akshay Kumar’s first-ever direct OTT release, Laxmii. It is a remake of the 2011 Tamil hit, Kanchana.
