Aamir Khan’s much-talked-about film, Sitaare Zameen Par, is finally arriving on the big screen tomorrow. After the failure of Laal Singh Chaddha, everyone was curious about Aamir’s next move and now that the film is just a few hours away from hitting theatres, box office enthusiasts are excited about it. Unfortunately, the film is not in good position and heading for an underwhelming day 1 collection in India. Scroll below for the detailed prediction report!
Aamir Khan’s poor form in the post-COVID era
Undoubtedly, Aamir is one of the biggest superstars of Bollywood but in the last few years, he has failed to meet his own standards. Though Thugs Of Hindostan was a big failure but still it managed to pull off a record-breaking start back in 2018. However, in the post-COVID era, the actor has been completely out of form.
During the release of Laal Singh Chaddha, Aamir Khan faced a wave of negativity with his 2015’s comments about rising intolerance in India resurfaced on social media. Apart from the negativity, it also clashed with Akshay Kumar’s Raksha Bandhan in 2022. It opened at 12 crore net at the Indian box office. Now, his Sitaare Zameen Par is heading for a start lower than Laal Singh Chaddha.
Failed to create buzz on the ground level
The trailer of Sitaare Zameen Par was dropped in the last month and though it enjoyed decent response, it wasn’t up to the mark considering it’s Aamir’s comeback film after Laal Singh Chaddha. After the trailer, none of the promotional material created any buzz on the ground. As a result, the film failed to build the required hype and awareness around itself.
Also, Aamir Khan has killed his own USP by overexposing himself through podcasts and interviews. Earlier, he didn’t use to promote his films much, thus maintaining curiosity around them. Other than the overexposure, the tag of remake has impacted the buzz of the film negatively. For those who aren’t aware, the Bollywood comedy drama is a remake of the 2018 Spanish film, Champions.
Sitaare Zameen Par box office day 1 prediction
Considering the above factors, Sitaare Zameen Par is heading for a day 1 collection of 8-10 crore net at the Indian box office, which is underwhelming considering Aamir’s face value. Even with such a low start, the film can make a turnaround over the weekend if word-of-out turns out to be positive.
