Stree 2, starring Shraddha Kapoor and Rajkummar Rao in the lead roles, has finally closed its run by staying in theatres for over two months. During its journey, the film achieved several milestones, one of them being surpassing the Hindi collection of Jawan to become the highest-grossing Hindi film ever in India. At the worldwide box office, it amassed an unprecedented 875 crore+ and called off its all-time blockbuster ride. Let’s look at the film’s final collection update in detail!
The Stree sequel was released on Independence Day and went sky-high despite a clash with Khel Khel Mein and Vedaa. It benefitted immensely due to the franchise value and the hype surrounding the Maddock Horror Universe. Also, it enjoyed the benefit of chartbuster tracks like Aayi Nai and Aaj Ki Raat. These all factors helped the film bag a huge start but afterward, it had a long run due to positive word-of-mouth and a lack of major releases from Bollywood.
Weeks after week, Stree 2 held its ground and earned record-breaking numbers. In India, it amassed a staggering 627.50 crore net, which equals a gross collection of 740.45 crore after including taxes. Even in overseas, it exceeded expectations and earned 144 crore gross. Combining the domestic and overseas gross, the Shraddha Kapoor-led horror comedy wrapped up its worldwide box office run at an unbelievable 884.45 crore gross.
