For those who don’t know, the first installment, Navra Maza Navsacha, was released in 2005. Back then, it was welcomed with mostly positive reviews and even the ticket-buying audience gave a big thumbs. As a result, against a minimal budget, it earned almost 5 crores at the box office. Also, it became a cult with its tremendous popularity and appreciation over the years. Still today, its hilarious dialogues are remembered by the audience. Riding high on such nostalgia, the sequel has struck the right chords on the opening day.

Yesterday, due to National Cinema Day, movie tickets were available at discounted rates. This played a big role in attracting footfalls to theatres and Navra Maza Navsacha 2 registered packed houses at several locations in Maharashtra. Even in terms of overall occupancy, the film enjoyed a fantastic response, especially in the cities. This resulted in a start of a whopping 2 crores at the Indian box office on day 1. Please note that this is an estimated number and it might go slightly here and there.

With a start of 2 crores, Navra Maza Navsacha sequel has registered the 3rd best opening for a Marathi film in the post-COVID era. The first spot is held by Ved (2.25 crores), and the second spot is grabbed by Dharmaveer (2.05 crores)

Navra Maza Navsacha 2’s business is mainly from Maharashtra and though there are shows in some selected locations outside Maharashtra, the contribution is dismal. But it’s nothing to worry about as the Marathi audience would ensure that this highly-anticipated sequel becomes a huge success as its budget is said to be below 10 crores.
