The film did well by hanging in there for weeks but failed to make any significant gains. The Hindi historical courtroom drama was released on April 18, 2025. Upon its release, the film opened to mostly decent reviews from critics. The performances of Akshay, Madhavan and Ananya were praised along with the remaining cast. It was hailed for its gripping narration. Even among the ticket-buying audience, it fared with mostly favorable word-of-mouth.
Failed to make it big
Kesari Chapter 2 was not the direct sequel to 2019’s Kesari, but a spiritual sequel. Still, it was expected to enjoy the benefit of being a sequel, but it didn’t happen. After registering an underwhelming start at the Indian box office, it kept going due to positive word-of-mouth. With this, it has emerged as Akshay Kumar’s 6th consecutive flop since OMG 2. It has joined the list with Mission Raniganj, Bade Miyan Chote Miyan, Sarfira, Khel Khel Mein, and Sky Force.
