Finally, on this Friday, Vin Diesel and John Cena led F9 arrived in the United States and Canada. The film had paid previews held on Thursday which brought record start for the post-pandemic era. But how the film performed on its full-fledged opening day? Let’s see.
On Thursday, Fast & Furious made $7.1 million from paid previews. On Friday i.e. 25th June, the film has accumulated a sum which is half of what trade experts expected to come during Friday, Saturday and Sunday. As per the latest reports flowing in, the ninth instalment of Fast saga has hit a whopping $30 million at the box office.
$30 million is inclusive of Thursday’s paid previews. It’s the best start of the post-pandemic era. Both sides, exhibitors and the makers, are happy that the audience is showing love and respect to the franchise. Now, collections might hit the $70 million mark by Sunday. If it happens, celebrations are on!
For the unversed, A Quiet Place 2 is at the top with $57.1 million (extended weekend) and Godzilla vs Kong is at the second with $48.1 million, in the post-pandemic era. As of now, it seems like F9 will cross these numbers like a cakewalk.
Speaking of the worldwide collection, F9 stands at $329 million. In China alone, the film has made around $204 million, as per box office mojo.
Helmed by Justin Lin, the film also stars Michelle Rodriguez, Tyrese Gibson, Ludacris and Jordana Brewster in key roles.
