Digpal Lanjekar’s Sher Shivraj has failed to live up to the huge expectations it had on itself at the box office. It’s the next part to Pawankhind and compared to its predecessor’s success, it’s a huge disappointment. Let’s see how much collection it has made till now and what’s its budget.
For those who don’t know, this Digpal Lanjekar directorial is a fourth out of a total of eight movies based on Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj. In February, Lanjekar delivered Pawankhind, which was the third part of the movie series.
As we all know, Pawankhind was a huge box office hit and it even went on to become one of the highest-grossing films in the Marathi film industry. Running high on its goodwill, Sher Shivraj released on 22nd April, but it failed to manage that level of appreciation due to its weak content.
It did manage a good opening and gave a tough competition to Shahid Kapoor’s Jersey. On day 1, it had made 1.05 crores. Despite mixed reviews, it showed a decent growth over the first weekend but experience collections on the lower side from thereon. Things went terrible when Runway 34 and Heropanti 2 arrived last Friday and KGF Chapter 2 retained shows in good numbers.
Unlike Pawankhind, Sher Shivraj is failing to keep the momentum on weekdays and as a result, just 8.28 crores have come till now (at the end of 11 days). Due to the Eid holiday, some sort of growth has been recorded today but won’t make any effect.
Speaking of the budget, Sher Shivraj has a cost of 10 crores riding on it. So the film is yet to enter a safe zone. Before wrapping up its lifetime run, the film is expected to recover its cost and would end up being an average affair at the box office.
